Congratulations, Bruce! The new Sheriff-Elect in LeFlore County, Bruce Curnutt won the seat in the runoff election in August with 60.34% of the vote.

Bruce Curnutt, a member of the Choctaw Nation, was born in the Talihina Indian Hospital and raised in Talihina, Oklahoma.  He is currently the Assistant Chief of Police in Wister, and is running for LeFlore County Sheriff.

Curnutt has eighteen years of experience in law enforcement, having worked as a police officer in Wister and Heavener, and as a Deputy Sheriff in LeFlore County.  He is CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training) Certified and has also received his Advanced CLEET Certificate.  Curnutt is certified in clandestine drug lab safety and cleanup, and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Marshall’s Service during Operation Falcon II.

He received his Associates Degree in Psychology from Carl Albert State College.  Bruce has been married to his wife, Francine, for 15 years, and they have two daughters, Callie, age 14, and Adrianna, age 11.  They are members of the First Baptist Church in Heavener.

State of the Race:
Bruce Curnutt ran against the incumbent Sheriff, Bob Campbell, and three others in the July 29 primary.  He won the primary with 36.72%, and will be in the Runoff on August 22 against Campbell, who received 29.28% of the vote.  There is no general election opponent.  We are proud to support Bruce Curnutt for Sheriff, and we hope you will join us in helping him win!
