Celana Wasson was unsuccessful in her bid for the Washoe County School Board.
Celana Wasson is an enrolled member of the Walker River Paiute Tribe and taught school in the Washoe County School District for 30 years. She is running for Washoe County School Board, and she has the experience and knowledge necessary to truly make a difference for the students there.
Wasson was born in Schurz, Nevada, on the Walker River Paiute Indian Reservation. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education, her Masters in Education (Curriculum and Instruction), and her Professional Special License in K-12 Administration all from the University of Nevada in Reno. She and her husband, James, have two children, Callie and Jim. Both of her children attended and graduated from Washoe County Schools.
She has a lifetime commitment to education – when she stated teaching 8th grade in the Washoe County School District, she was 23. Her first students are now 44 years old.
State of the Race:
Celana Wasson came in second to the incumbent in the three-way primary on August 19, but the top two finishers go to the general this fall. She needs our help to win against incumbent Dan Carne in November, and we are proud to endorse this woman who has given her life to educating our children!
