Congratulations, Ed!  This Campaign Camp alum and Representative-Elect won one of the District 27 seats with 23.06% of the vote.

Ed Iron Cloud III, an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, is running for South Dakota State Representative District 27. Iron Cloud has long been involved on his reservation, Pine Ridge, and has lived in Porcupine, SD, his whole life.

Currently, he is a rancher and has a small herd of buffalo he raises for his family.  Connecting with their tribal heritage, they use the buffalo meat and perform ceremonies.  Iron Cloud has also worked with the Oglagla Lakota College Center at Porcupine as a board member, worked with an organization that helps children who suffer from abuse by teaching them Lakota traditions, and he was a member of the Great Plains Restoration Council. 

Iron Cloud earned his degree in Electrical Construction Maintenance at the Oglala Lakota College.  

He believes the South Dakota state government needs to pay more attention to Native issues, such as healthcare, veterans’ issues, and education. If elected, Iron Cloud will use his community experience to ensure those issues are not ignored.

State of the Race:
INDN’s List is proud to endorse Ed Iron Cloud for South Dakota House District 27!  He came in second during the Democratic primary, sharing 61% of the vote with INDN’s List endorsed candidate Kevin Killer.  On November 4, five candidates will compete for 2 seats, and we are sure our two endorsed candidates will win them and represent Indian County in the state house!
