Joey was unsuccessful in her bid for State District Court Judge.

Joey Jayne is running for State District Court Judge in Montana, where she currently serves as a State Representative.  As a representative, Joey served on the powerful Appropriations Committee during her entire tenure.  Joey is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.

Joey will bring years of legal experience to the State District Court.  She has practiced law in state, federal and tribal courts, and she founded the Joey Jayne Law Office in Arlee, Montana, in 2000.  Joey began her legal career as Legal Services Attorney for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes based in Pablo, Montana, and later served as a Prosecutor with those tribes.  She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Montana School of Law, and also has a Master of Science Degree from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Industry from Arizona State University.

She has long served as an activist in her community, volunteering for organizations such as the Jobs for Montana Graduates Foundation and the Task Force for the American Legacy Foundation.

Joey is married to Harley Tanner, and they live in Arlee with their dogs, PJ and Treaty.  She is a long-distance runner and dances in the women’s traditional category at powwows.
