Eugene Blankenship was unsuccessful in his 2008 challenger bid.

Eugene Blankenship is running for Oklahoma State House District 14 in Muskogee.  He is a fourth-generation Oklahoman, born in Tahlequah, and is a member of the Cherokee Nation.

Blankenship attended Carl Albert State College on speech and debate scholarships, where he was named Mr. Carl Albert and was the parliamentarian for the Young Democrats on campus.  During college, he traveled throughout America helping troubled youth.  After Carl Albert, he attended Northeastern State University in Hulbert.  Like the namesake of his first college, Blankenship became very interested in politics and was fortunate to attend a campaign management school in Washington, DC.

After college, he worked for Enterprise in McAlester and Muskogee, and then worked as the Deputy Director of the County Emergency Management Agency.  He quickly became the Director and was appointed as the Muskogee County Floodplain Administrator, the youngest in Oklahoma.

As the next representative for Muskogee, he will work to be the voice for working families and the children of Oklahoma.  He is a progressive Democrat who cares about our public education, health care, and public safety.

He is married to Kim Pitman of Muskogee, and they have two children, Addyson and Zak.

State of the Race:
With a candidate like Eugene Blankenship, we have a great opportunity to take out a Republican incumbent who is not a friend to Indian Nations.  Blankenship is the Democratic nominee for the seat, and he faces George Faught in the general election.  Representative Faught authored the English-only legislation in the last session, threatening our tribal heritage.  Blankenship has vowed to oppose these types of sovereignty erosion efforts, but he needs your help to win in November!
