INDN Training
INDN's List conducts most of its training at biennial Campaign Camps. The first was held in 2005 on the Shakopee Mdewakanton reservation in Minnesota, and the second concluded in August 2007 on the Morongo Indian Reservation. To read more about Campaign Camp 2007, click here.
Who Should Attend INDN Campaign Camp?
- Indians who may run for office someday. Whether you want to serve on your local school board, city council, county commission, or run for the state house, you need to attend INDN's List Camp!
- Indians who have worked on campaigns before and want to hone their skills, or serve in a key staff position.
- Indians who want to develop campaign skills and work for Indian candidates.
- Non-Indians who want to work as staff on Indian campaigns.
- Indians and non-Indians who want to develop skills to serve on Indian campaigns as campaign manager, deputy campaign manager, fundraising director, communications director, field director, or learn more about the fundamentals of campaign strategy.
- Interns or staff who may want to intern or work in INDN's List's national office in Tulsa, OK.
What Will Happen at INDN Campaign Camp?
If you are accepted, you will learn about voter targeting, fundraising, message, opposition research, media, direct mail, and field organizing from the best Democratic operatives in the business!
You will mingle with renowned tribal leaders and high ranking Democratic officials throughout the camp. You will enjoy celebrity guest speakers that are sure to inspire us all to take your new found skills and put them to work to elect Indian candidates in record breaking numbers!
What happens after INDN Campaign Camp?
INDN's List will work closely with our INDN's List candidates to meet their campaign staffing needs by providing the best and brightest campaign staff. During INDN's List Camp, our trainers will be assessing potential staff to make critical staffing recommendations to our candidates. Our goal is to place as many INDN's List trained staffers with INDN's List candidates in the next election cycle. INDN's List will also offer staff and intern positions to a select number of INDN's List trained staffers in our national office in Tulsa, OK.
When is the next INDN's List Campaign Camp?
INDN's List held Campaign Camp its most recent training August 20-25, 2007 on the Morongo Indian Reservation in California. Details of the next Campaign Camp are to be decided, but will likely be held in 2009.
