Patty Ninham Hoeft, while serving her first term as Tribal Secretary for the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin, was elected to the Brown County Board of Supervisors in April 2006. She is one of four women currently serving on the board of 26 supervisors.
Patty represents District 24 which includes parts of the villages of Howard and Hobart, town of Lawrence, west De Pere, and the Oneida Nation. She ran for the seat after being asked by the incumbent Tom Hinz, a former Brown County Sheriff, who decided not to seek re-election.
As a lifetime resident, Patty has a strong background of community involvement. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader. She currently serves on the Women's Fund of Greater Green Bay board and the Packer Country Tourism Board. Past jobs include being a reporter for the Green Bay Press-Gazette and assistant alumni director at St. Norbert College, De Pere. She also volunteers in local campaigns and efforts to get out the vote.
Patty's background in local government includes serving on Oneida's Gaming Commission and the board of the local urban Native American health center. In 2003, she was appointed by Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle to serve as a division administrator at the state Department of Regulation and Licensing. In 2006, Gov. Doyle appointed her to the Wisconsin Coastal Management Council.
Patty is married with two children. She graduated from St. Norbert College, De Pere, with a bachelor's degree in political science.
Patty attended INDN Campaign Camp 2005, and was one of our first trainees. INDN's List is most proud of Patty and looks forward to supporting her while she serves in this office and hopes that she runs for a higher office soon!
