McAffrey won his primary and was unopposed in the general election.
Al McAffrey, a member of the Choctaw Nation, Navy veteran, and former policeman, is a friend of Oklahoma City and a good neighbor to the residents of District 88.
Coming Together in the Neighborhood
Communities and families need to come together, and Al McAffrey has a plan. By revitalizing our neighborhoods and promoting an environment of diversity, McAffrey will attract businesses to the district and the state while protecting families from crime by breathing life into communities. With better wages, improved education, and access to healthcare, families can come together at the dinner table to plan for – not worry about – the future.
Living the American Dream
McAffrey pledges to restore the American Dream for our children while implementing legislation that improves the lives of all Oklahomans. He will improve education for children by giving teachers the salaries they deserve and the healthcare they need, and for adults by making lifelong education affordable and by providing training for the demands of a changing economy. He will ensure that public servants can afford the cost of healthcare while seeking to provide coverage for children beyond the confines of Medicare.
Live and Let Live
The people of District 88 demand good government, not a babysitter. Al McAffrey will focus on improving the everyday lives for Oklahoma families rather than spending your time and money by legislating his or anyone else’s moral agenda. “Moral and religious issues,” he says, “should be left to families.” He understands that true morals are about service to others, something McAffrey has shown in his years in the Navy and the police force and something he will give in meeting the practical needs of Oklahomans.
The Situation
Al McAffrey won the three-way Democratic Primary Election on July 25th with 52% of the vote. By avoiding a run-off, Al is now uncontested in the General Election and will be the next Representative from House District 88. INDN's List is proud of our work on behalf of Al and is excited about the wonderful things Al will do for Indians, and all Oklahomans, at the State Capitol.
