HOFFMAN WINS WITH 68% OF THE VOTE.

Lyman Hoffman, a member of the Yupik tribe, has spent the past 24 years in the Alaska state House and Senate fighting for teachers, students and laborers.  He has consistently voted to help the daily lives of Alaska’s children and working families.

Common Sense
In a political climate in which common sense seems to be less and less common, Lyman Hoffman has taken practical approaches to complicated challenges.  As a married father of two and both former employee and now an employer, Hoffman understands the need for a living wage.  When an initiative to increase Alaska’s minimum wage failed to make the ballot, Hoffman supported a minimum wage increase to $7.15, which went into effect in January 2003. While Hoffman is a supporter of Alaskan oil production, he recognizes that America’s energy future lies in new technologies and resources. He has proposed an Alaska energy research and development program to stimulate innovation and develop alternative energy sources while boosting the Alaskan economy with the nation’s brightest minds.

Standing Up for Rural Alaskans

In the State Senate, Hoffman has stood up against the Republican majority when vital state programs were at risk.  When Republican senators targeted the Housing Assistance Loan Fund Program, which greatly benefits rural communities, Hoffman successfully fought to restore funding for rural housing and to secure a housing loan program for teachers.  Hoffman has worked tirelessly for Alaska’s children, families and rural communities, and we will work for a victory for Hoffman this fall.

The Situation
Lyman Hoffman has dedicated more than two decades to the people of Alaska, and INDN’s List is proud to endorse his bid to continue seeking positive change for the state. Hoffman faces a Republican opponent in the general election but with your support our candidate can spend still more years serving his district and Alaskans statewide.
