SALMON WINS WITH 51% OF THE VOTE.
Woodie Salmon, former Chief of the Chalkyitsik Village Tribe, has spent his two years in the State House working for Indian communities and working families across Alaska.
Responding to Problems, Old and New
Representative Salmon wasted no time in protecting our most vulnerable, and valuable, assets. He has proposed bills protecting children, the unemployed and small rural communities. He introduced a bill requiring school districts to develop and enforce policies to stop harassment and intimidation so that our students can learn in a positive and nurturing environment. Salmon has also written legislation to protect children from online predators, to promote diversity-tolerance programs, and to protect victims of discrimination based on race, sex, color, creed, disability, sexual orientation, ancestry or national origin.
Providing Access to Security
Representative Salmon believes families in communities large and small equally deserve the services of their government. Salmon seeks to ensure the protection of rural Alaskan families by providing rural communities with adequate law enforcement. With his Democratic colleagues in the House he supported increases in unemployment benefits to help families across the state overcome adversity and build a better Alaska.
The Situation
In less than two years Representative Salmon has done more than some legislators do in a career for working families and vulnerable populations. This year he faces his first bid for reelection against a former state legislator of which voters have had enough. He needs your support to continue his work for the people of District 6 and families across the state.
