Campaign Camp Lays Ground for 2008

Senator Mike Brown, Dianne Benson, Lona Wilbur, A-dae Romero, and Fred Briones We just finished our second INDN's List Campaign Camp, which was an enormous success. Last week, American Indians from all across the nation heard from the top political consultants, governors, congressmen, presidential candidates, and DNC Chairman Howard Dean.

These elected officials joined more than 50 future candidates and campaign staff from 28 tribal nations at our training on the Morongo Reservation in California because they understand that the Indian Vote cannot be ignored and will become more critical in every election cycle. We gave our trainees the critical tools to run winning campaigns in New Mexico, Washington, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana, Alaska, South Dakota and Arizona. We taught them how to raise money, how to create a message, all the skills they need to run professional campaigns.

INDN Campaign Camp was the culmination of a year's worth of hard work and planning. Now our coffers must be replenished and we need your support.

In 2008, we will build on our successes from the 2006 elections, when INDN's List supported 26 American Indians for state and local office and 20 of those candidates won and are serving in public office across the country. We helped put the First Indian Women in the Montana and Washington State Senates. That's concrete proof that what we are doing at INDN's List is making a difference.

With your help we can do more in 2008.

We're empowering Indians to get involved in the process, to work on campaigns, and to run for office. And, we're creating a voting block that can help determine elections throughout this country. NO longer can the Indian Vote be taken for granted.

In many states where 1 or 2 percent means the difference between winning and losing, it's the First Americans who will make the difference. We have dozens of Indian Organizers trained and ready to build political power in Indian Country and exponentially increase the Indian Vote in battleground states across America.

We met a kindred spirit at Indian Campaign Camp - Hone Harawira, a Maori Tribal member and a member of the New Zealand Parliament, who inspired our future Indian leaders with a phrase we believe -- "Happy are those who dream dreams, and are prepared to pay the price to make those dreams come true."

We are prepared to dream the dreams of empowering Indian Country, but we can't do that without you. We need your support, your help, but most importantly, we need your money - click here now to make your contribution online.
