INDN Delegates Help Select the Best Presidential Candidate

In 2008, American Indians made historic strides in local democratic conventions across the country. As a DNC at-large member, I have the privilege of serving as a superdelegate at the 2008 national convention this coming August in Denver. Superdelegate and friend of INDN's List Frank LaMere (Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska) will join me and Superdelegate Margarett Campbell (Assiniboine) at the convention, where we will join Indians from across the U.S. to make history.

As the only three American Indian superdelegates, Margarett, Frank and I will work to amplify the voice of Indian Country and help select the best Democratic presidential candidate for all of us. Together with all American Indian delegates, "We will," in Frank's words, "have an opportunity to tell those leaders how things could and should be in Indian Country."

Volunteers Keep Us Moving

It’s the little things that make the big things happen. Without our tireless volunteers, we’d be drowning in a sea of unfilled envelopes and unanswered calls. Our volunteers respond in just a moment’s notice, which is good because that’s usually all we give them. Whether they come in regularly every week or whether they come when we call, the volunteers at INDN’s List are there – invariably – when we need them most. So today we’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of our tremendous volunteers at INDN’s List: Faye Hadley, Gordon Holmes, Tammy McCullar, Ronda Talley, Bill and Rose Ann Risenhoover, Carma Lee Brock, and Diane Williamson. February 2007 - Representatives Chuck Hoskin (Cherokee) and Scott BigHorse (Osage and Cherokee), both candidates endorsed by INDN’s List and elected in November, are speaking out against a bill making its way through the Oklahoma legislature. The bill declares English the official language of the state of Oklahoma and requires that all government business be conducted in English.
