Scott BigHorse, a member of the Osage and Cherokee Nations and committed to the youth of Osage County, understands the needs of rural Oklahomans.

A Voice for Children
Having worked more than five years with the troubled youth of rural Oklahoma, Scott BigHorse understands that children need opportunities to grow into the leaders of the next generation. In the legislature, as he has throughout his career, BigHorse will give them the support they need to succeed by prioritizing education spending and promoting rural development so that our youth will find opportunities for success rather than closed doors.

A Friend of Families
A proud father of two, Scott BigHorse’s commitment to working families is rooted in his personal commitment to family as well as in his work in rehabilitating criminals – both juvenile and adult – so that they can return to their community and to their families. As a legislator, BigHorse will ensure working families have the tools they need to succeed: decent wages, competitive pay for state employees, and more affordable healthcare.

Rural Sensibility
Rural Oklahoma faces challenges that should be met by common sense. Oklahomans know the damage that disaster can do to communities, and by ensuring all emergency personnel use the same radio frequency, Scott BigHorse will give first responders the equipment they need to communicate and coordinate to ensure a safer Oklahoma. Those emergency services, like our workers and school buses, rely on access to communities, no matter how isolated. BigHorse will fully fund road and bridge repairs throughout District 36 and the state.

Responsible Government for Responsible Citizens
Families must get by on limited budgets and by setting priorities. So should government. When families must choose between luxuries and essentials, they prioritize things like education, work, and healthcare. So should government. And when families have a little extra, they tuck some away for a rainy day. So should government. Scott BigHorse will ensure that the state budget is responsible, that the state government lives within its means, that priorities are made and kept for essentials, and that state leaders look always ahead to share our prosperity now with future generations.

The Situation
Electing Scott BigHorse is critical to the people of Osage County and the residents of the State of Oklahoma. His vision of leadership and responsibility is recognized by others to be ideal for the District.  

Scott won the general election and will be seated this November in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
